  1. Somer, I recently discovered your podcast and have enjoyed the episodes I have been listened to so far. My daughter lives in Houston so I am there every few weeks. In fact we were there over Labor Day weekend. I haven’t done much yarn shopping there but would love your recommendation on your favorite shops.

I am also interested in your restaurant suggestions. We have some favorite places but it would be good to know where the locals like to eat.

    • Hi Brenda! Unfortunately, my favorite yarn stores have closed. 🙁 I live in Southwest Houston, and the closest store to me is Yarntopia in Katy, which is a 30-minute drive. There are a handful of shops in north Houston (Spring area and The Woodlands) that I’ve heard good things about. My absolute favorite is Park Avenue Yarns in League City, but that is a serious time investment for me. If it’s convenient to where your daughter lives (or you’re willing to make the drive), I would recommend that one. The selection is fantastic, and the customer service is amazing. I’ve only made it down there once, but I hope to go again sometime soon.

As for restaurants, here are some of my favorites: Bombay Brasserie in Rice Village for Indian Food, also Khyber Grill on Richmond for Indian, Bernie’s Burger Bus on Bellaire, Fadi’s in Meyerland for Mediterranean (there are multiple, but this is my favorite location) or Dimassi’s for a good Mediterranean buffet, Swinging Door in Richmond for BBQ (a bit of a drive, but I love it), Thai Cottage on Bissonnet, and Chuy’s for TexMex (the one at Westheimer & Kirby I think is the best of the Chuy’s locations in Houston). I’d love to hear where y’all like to go when you’re in town, too!
