Episode 49: A fair amount of enabling

I’m terrible at keeping New Year’s Resolutions (who isn’t?). I am still trying to consistently post show notes, but sometimes the only way to get an episode published is to just get it up there!

My recording schedule has been a bit wonky lately, and I think I’m going to have to officially change things up. While I like recording in the mornings, it’s not really working with my schedule anymore. Stay tuned!

And now…show notes!

I visited Park Avenue Yarns in League City on Sunday for a meet-up with some local knitters. Local to Houston. None of us live near this LYS, but it was so worth the trip! Park Avenue Yarns is a lovely store with everything you could want! I was like a kid in a candy store! I was mostly good, though, and only bought one treat. The other things I bought were either necessities (some stitch holders and Eucalan) or something I have been wanting to buy but have been unable to find at other yarn stores (bare yarn and dye!). If you are ever in the Houston area and want to go on a yarny adventure, I highly recommend making the trek to Park Avenue Yarns!

Episode 46: What’s your crafting journey?

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope this episode is ok. I had to restart a couple of times, because was rambling all over the place!

What I’ve Been Up To

We didn’t do a whole lot over the weekend, but we did get a hike in on Saturday at Brazos Bend State Park. Sound familiar? I just left this in here from last week, because we did it again. 🙂

I also got my Ladybug this week, and have been spinning a little every day. It’s still pretty rough, but I am definitely improving.

Episode 44: Let’s Get to Know Each Other Better

One of my goals (I won’t say resolutions) for 2015 is to consistently post show notes, and to treat this blog as, well, more of a blog. So here’s to new beginnings.

If you are on Ravelry, please join me in the Kitchen Stitches group. I’d love to get to know my listeners better! Also, please consider leaving an iTunes review if you like what you hear  , so that more people can find the podcast.

What I’ve Been Doing

This weekend we visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Here are some pictures from the Samurai, Egyptian, and Battleship Texas exhibits. If you are ever in the Houston area, I highly recommend taking a trip to HMNS. It’s awesome!

In the Kitchen

  • Buffalo Chicken Chili
Modifications: I used the meat, shredded, from a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store deli instead of ground chicken. I also left out the celery salt and dried cilantro, since I didn’t have it on hand. I used a little less than 4 cups of chicken broth (probably about 3 1/2 cups). Finally, I cooked it on the stovetop rather than in a slow cooker. I combined everything except the cream cheese in a large pot, then put the cream cheese, in pieces, on top. I brought the mixture to a boil, then turned it down to medium low to simmer, covered, for a while. I didn’t time it – just until the cheese had melted through and mixed in well, probably an hour or so.
