Episode 75: Grab a cup…or two…or three

We were really chatty in this episode, so it’s a bit longer than others. I don’t think this will be a trend, we just hadn’t hung out in a while.

Show notes are 2/3 complete. If you have any questions about Darcy’s projects, feel free to message her on Ravelry (details in the sidebar) or ask in this episode’s thread in the Kitchen Stitches group.

The Summer Reading KAL will run from June 1 – September 30.

WIPs count.

  • Short story – projects 50-100 yards
  • Novel – projects 100-400 yards
  • Chunkster – projects 400+ yards
  • Boxed set – multiple projects that together equal at least 50 yards – perfect for sock yarn squares, hexipuffs, washcloths, bookmarks, etc.
  • Chatter thread – if you don’t want to bother with measuring yardage, just post in the chatter thread.
  • Cookbook club – The winning vote for June/July was smitten kitchen. Recipes from the website or the cookbook are fine. Voting for August’s selection will open in mid-July. Post recipe reviews and pictures of what you cook in the thread on the Ravelry group.

We’ll have prizes for, at the least, the chatter thread and each of the yardage threads. Specific prizes will be posted once we’ve decided. If you would like to donate a prize, you can email us at kitchenstitchespodcast@gmail.com or PM someryarns, kayteebe, or slightlyfoxed on Ravelry.

Episode 46: What’s your crafting journey?

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope this episode is ok. I had to restart a couple of times, because was rambling all over the place!

What I’ve Been Up To

We didn’t do a whole lot over the weekend, but we did get a hike in on Saturday at Brazos Bend State Park. Sound familiar? I just left this in here from last week, because we did it again. 🙂

I also got my Ladybug this week, and have been spinning a little every day. It’s still pretty rough, but I am definitely improving.

In this episode I talk about my crafting journey. I would love to hear yours, either in the comments or in the Ravelry group!

Episode 45: I’m so excited!

I hope everyone had a nice, restful 3-day weekend, if you were lucky enough to have Monday off! I know I really enjoyed that extra day. I always feel like that extra day is just a little gift. And then I completely waste it. 😉

What I’ve Been Up To

We didn’t do a whole lot over the weekend, but we did get a hike in on Saturday at Brazos Bend State Park. I think we saw about 20 alligators.

We went out to eat a couple of times. We had lunch at Beck’s Prime on Sunday, which is good, but overpriced. Then, on our unanticipated kid-free night, we ate dinner at Great W’kana Cafe, which was delicious.

Episode 44: Let’s Get to Know Each Other Better

One of my goals (I won’t say resolutions) for 2015 is to consistently post show notes, and to treat this blog as, well, more of a blog. So here’s to new beginnings.

If you are on Ravelry, please join me in the Kitchen Stitches group. I’d love to get to know my listeners better! Also, please consider leaving an iTunes review if you like what you hear  , so that more people can find the podcast.

What I’ve Been Doing

This weekend we visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Here are some pictures from the Samurai, Egyptian, and Battleship Texas exhibits. If you are ever in the Houston area, I highly recommend taking a trip to HMNS. It’s awesome!

Winner for Christmas All Year Long KAL (October – December)

In the Kitchen

  • Buffalo Chicken Chili
Modifications: I used the meat, shredded, from a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store deli instead of ground chicken. I also left out the celery salt and dried cilantro, since I didn’t have it on hand. I used a little less than 4 cups of chicken broth (probably about 3 1/2 cups). Finally, I cooked it on the stovetop rather than in a slow cooker. I combined everything except the cream cheese in a large pot, then put the cream cheese, in pieces, on top. I brought the mixture to a boil, then turned it down to medium low to simmer, covered, for a while. I didn’t time it – just until the cheese had melted through and mixed in well, probably an hour or so.
